How do Centerlock and IS 6-Bolt disc brake mounts differ?
Center Lock refers to a system for mounting the brake rotor to the hub. The rotor is positioned on the hub using an external spline interface and secured with a lockring. The main advantage of the Center Lock system is that only a single lockring is required, making installation quicker and easier.
With the IS (International Standard) system, the brake rotor is mounted to the hub using six individual M5 bolts. One of the key advantages of this system is that no special tools are required for rotor removal during repairs on the trail or roadside. Most multi-tools include a T25 Torx key, which is all that is needed to remove the six bolts.
