Ceramic bearings are not new in the cycling industry. Several notably manufacturer are offering ceramic upgrade kits for bottom brackets, pulley wheels and hubs. The advantages of these ceramic bearings can be seen in a lower friction and increased durability over conventional steel bearings. Obviously our SINC Ceramic hybrid bearings also offer these advantages but what is it that makes SINC Ceramic truly special and unique?

"Bearing clearance" is the magic word...
SINC Ceramic hybrid bearings are planed, engineered and tested by DT Swiss. They are made for DT Swiss hubs with absolute precision. Ceramic bearings of other manufacturers may be used in our hubs too – provided that dimension are compatible - but they will never develop their full potential in contrast to SINC Ceramic bearings. Our ceramic hybrid bearings offer the following advantages:

  • optimum clearance between the ceramic balls and the steel cage („bearing clearance“) prevents wear and secures maximum efficiency
  • absolute precision of the bearings, which are made for DT Swiss hubs only. Besides the bearing dimension all characteristics of the bearings are perfectly adjusted on the DT Swiss hub shells
  • improved bearing seat due to optimum integration into the hub shell
  • combination of ceramic balls and steel cage (hybrid bearings) increases service life of the bearings
  • sealing is offering an easy service and secures the optimal operation as well as a low friction of the bearing
  • perfect alignment of all components in the hub for a noticeably easier riding experience

What is the difference between our ceramic balls and conventional steel balls?

Silicon nitride (Si3N4) is characterized by a high strength and a low density. The material is very resilient and has a very high wear resistance and corrosion protection. These characteristics make it perfectly suitable for the use in high-quality bearings.

Only the highest quality ceramic balls made in Japan are used for our SINC Ceramic bearings. Perfect

Perfect roundness of the ceramic balls is achieved through a unique production process. While the surface of conventional ceramic balls is not a 100% smooth, SINC Ceramic balls feature an extremely high smoothness and secure the lowest possible friction due to their perfect roundness. With the combination of these ceramic balls and high quality steel cages the full potential of the bearing can be realized.

  • Set No. 4: Spline One wheels MY 2016, 240s disc-brake hubs
  • Set No. 5: 240S disc-brake IS-6 classic hubs
  • Set No. 6: XRC 1250 Spline wheels
  • Set No. 7: RRC and RR Dicut wheels from MY 2016 on
  • Set No. 8: Spline Mon Chasseral, Spline 1200 wheels and Spline ONE wheels from MY 2017
The set contains 4 bearings, as well as a manual and additional product information. We recommend the assembly to be done by a certified DT Swiss dealer using original DT Swiss tools in order to feel the outstanding performance of SINC Ceramic bearings.
