DT Swiss AG was formed through a management buyout from “Vereinigte Drahtwerke AG” by Marco Zingg, Maurizio D’Alberto and Frank Böckmann. The company is still owned by these three. Spoke production with 28 employees.

Founding of DT Swiss Inc. in Grand Junction, USA. Production of spokes for the US market and concentration on sales and marketing activities.

Introduction of the first DT Swiss air shock for full suspension bikes. The shock impacts the market in a very short time.

Introduction of the first DT Swiss rims by our new production facility in Biel. DT Swiss is now the first company in the bicycle industry which offers a complete range of components for bicycle wheels.

Introduction of an air shock with a revolutionary platform technology as well as a freeride wheel featuring the DT Swiss star ratchet system. Opening of the new 5000 square meter production facility for rims and nipples. Founding of the subsidiary, DT Swiss (Asia) Ltd in Taiwan, for the purpose of an distribution warehouse for deliveries in Asia.

DT Swiss has acquired from Pace Cycles Ltd. its suspension and rigid fork business. With this step, DT Swiss becomes a full scale, high end suspension product manufacturer.
